Hokke Shinto - Hoke Shinto

Japanese:
Hokke Shinto - Hoke Shinto

It is one of the Buddhist Shinto beliefs based on the idea of Shinto-Buddhist syncretism, and is preached in the Nichiren sect. It originates from the thought of Nichiren, but its origins lie in the fact that when Ennin (Jikaku Daishi) copied the Lotus Sutra in a proper manner at Yokawa on Mount Hiei and enshrined this sutra in the Konpon Nyohodo, he invited 30 deities (originally 12 deities) to be the guardian deities of the Lotus Sutra. The 30 deities are believed to be the guardian deities of the Lotus Sutra, with famous deities from all over Japan taking turns protecting the Lotus Sutra each day, and were thought up under the influence of Buddhist ideas such as the Thirty Days of Buddha's Names. The basic document of the Buddhist Shinto (Theoretical Shinto) theory in the Middle Ages is the writing "Banjin Mondo-ki" by Urabe Kanetomo. Nichiren had already studied Shinto under Yoshida Kaneyasu, so Hokke Shinto and Yoshida Shinto are made up of doctrines that are very closely related.
