A facility established in each city, town, or village for the purpose of providing comprehensive interpersonal health services. Traditionally, public health centers have played an important role as local institutions responsible for public health activities, but as the demand for interpersonal health services has become more diverse and sophisticated, the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare decided to establish health centers in all cities, towns, and villages nationwide in a 10-year plan starting in 1978 in order to respond flexibly to this. After the Public Health Center Law was developed into the Community Health Law in 1994, health centers were legalized. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
