Fangshan Yunju Temple (English name)
A temple located in the western valley of Baidai Mountain (Shijing Mountain), about 25 km southwest of Fangshan County, Hebei Province, China. Yunju Temple is also known as Xiyu Temple and Xiyu Temple. Located at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains, the area is home to many ruins and remains from the Sui and Tang dynasties to the Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, making it a strategic location historically and geographically. It is also famous for housing the stone-carved "Complete Buddhist Scriptures," for which it was named. It is the largest of all stone scriptures, and was carved by Jing Wan (?-639) of the Sui dynasty during the Daye era (605-617) at the urgency of the hope that the scriptures would remain after the extinction of the Dharma. It has continued to be carved ever since.
