Born in Tenbun 14. Second son of Akizuki Tanekata. Lord of Koshozan Castle in Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture). Allied with the Mori clan, later the Shimazu clan, and repeatedly fought against the Otomo clan. In Tensho 15, resisted Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Kyushu. Later, he surrendered the castle and presented his famous shoulder-style tea caddy "Nara Shiba" in exchange for forgiveness. Died on September 26, Bunroku 5. Age 52.
