A manor located in Awa County, Awa Province. It is believed to have been established in Akizukigo, and is identified with the area from the area around the Higaidani River in Awa City, Tokushima Prefecture, to the area around the Kuzuudani River in Donari, Awa City. It was the property of Hokongoin Temple, a temple established by Taikenmon'in Shoshi, the Empress of Emperor Toba, and after Taikenmon'in's death, it was passed down to Josaimon'in, Emperor Goshirakawa, and Senyomon'in. After it was temporarily confiscated by the Kamakura Shogunate after the Jokyu War, it was returned to Takatsukasain, passed on to Emperor Gofukakusa, and was passed on to the Jimyoin line. In the late Kamakura period, the Ashikaga clan was the land steward. The Hosokawa clan, a powerful military commander of the Ashikaga clan who entered Awa Province in 1336, established a shugosho in Akizuki, and used it as their base of control until they moved to Shozui. During the Nanboku-cho period, Aisu Noritoshi, a resident of Kii Province, was appointed as a land steward by the Southern Court, but it is questionable whether this was an effective position. One third of Akizuki Manor was maintained as the main territory of the Hosokawa clan until the 15th century, and the Akizuki clan, a vassal of the Hosokawa clan, was based in Akizuki Castle.
