Two brothers who were representative painters and printmakers of 16th-century Germany and belonged to the "Kleinemeister" (painters of small things) class. They were born in Nuremberg. In 1525, they were exiled along with G. Penz for their God-denying rhetoric. The elder brother, Hans Sebald Beham (1500-50), settled in Frankfurt around 1531, while the younger, Barthel B.
