A French Catholic bishop who helped found the Nguyen Dynasty in Vietnam. His Vietnamese name was Bach Da Loc. As a missionary for the Overseas Missionary Church, he began evangelizing in Ha Tien, southern Vietnam, in 1774. In 1775, he helped Nguyen Phuoc Anh (later Emperor Gia Long), a member of the Quang Nam Dynasty's royal family, who had been chased by the Tay Son army, and lent his support to the restoration of the Quang Nam Nguyen Dynasty. In 1787, he took Anh's eldest son, Khanh, to Paris to meet King Louis XVI, and signed the Franco-Vietnamese Alliance, promising to grant France exclusive commercial rights and cede some Vietnamese ports in exchange for the intervention of French troops.

ベトナムのグエン(阮)朝の創始を助けたフランス人カトリック司教。ベトナム名はバク･ダ･ロクBach Da Loc(百多禄)。海外伝道教会の宣教師として1774年から南部ベトナムのハティエンを中心に布教に努めていたが，75年タイソン(西山)軍に追われたクアンナム(広南)朝の王族グエン･フォック･アイン(阮福暎。のちのザロン帝)を助け，クアンナム･グエン朝の回復に力を貸すことになった。87年アインの長子カイン(景)をパリに連れていってルイ16世に会い，フランス軍の介入と引換えに，フランスに対する独占商業権の付与，ベトナムの一部港湾の割譲を約して仏越攻守同盟に調印した。
