Travel Song - Kiryoka

Japanese:
Travel Song - Kiryoka
A poem with various emotions inspired by travel as its theme. The character 'jing' (jing) means travel or lodging, and the word 'jing trip' appears in Chinese classics such as the 'Zhou Li' and 'Chu Ci', but in China the term 'jing trip' is mainly used as a classification term for poetry. In Japan, the term 'jing trip' is first used in the 'Manyoshu', where it is mainly poems that describe the scenery of the travel destination, hometown, and feelings towards family members. Major works include the eight 'jing trip poems' by Kakinomoto no Hitomaro and Takechi no Kurohito in Volume 3. It also appears as a category name in Volumes 7 and 12, but it is only used as a subcategory name of major categories such as 'zouka' (miscellaneous poems) and 'somon' (soul-related poems), which shows that travel poems are not yet considered an independent category.
