Heichouzan

Japanese: 平頂山 - へいちょうざん

A city in central Henan Province, China, on which the Luobao Railway, a branch line of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway (Beijing-Guangzhou), passes. Located at the eastern foot of Mount Funiu, the city was built in 1955 after a huge coalfield stretching 100 km from east to west was discovered in the area of Ye County, Baofeng, Xiangcheng, and Linru, and in 1957 it was separated from Ye County and Baofeng County to form a city. It has jurisdiction over two cities, five counties, and four districts. It has an area of 8,802 ^km2 , of which the urban district is 453 km2, and a total population of 5.35 million, of which 760,000 are in the urban district (1995). It produces high-quality bituminous coal, with reserves said to exceed 10 billion tons, and supplies much of the coke coal for the Wuhan Steel Works.

中国，河南省の中部にある都市で，京広鉄道(北京～広州)の支線の漯宝鉄道が通る。伏牛山の東麓に位置し，1955年に葉（しよう）県･宝豊･襄城･臨汝一帯，東西100kmにわたり埋蔵する大炭田が発見されてから市街が建設され，57年に葉県と宝豊県から分離して市が置かれた。2市5県4区を管轄する。面積8802km²，うち市区453km2，総人口535万人，うち市区76万人(1995)。良質の歴青炭を産し，埋蔵量は100億t以上といわれ武漢製鉄所のコークス用炭の多くを供給する。
