Hakobuchi Flora

Japanese: 函淵植物群 - はこぶちしょくぶつぐん

A general term for fossil plants found in the Upper Cretaceous Hakobuchi Group (80 to 65 million years ago) distributed in the central part of Hokkaido. The plant fossils consist of silicified wood, silicified leaves, leaves, pollen and spores, etc., of which silicified leaf fossils of cycads were studied by MC Stopes in 1909, silicified wood by Stopes and Fujii Kenjiro in 2010, leaf fossils by Endo Seido in 25, and pollen and spore fossils by Takahashi Kiyoshi in 1964. Fossil leaves and stems include four species of ferns, seven species of cycads, two species of cones, and four species of angiosperms, but the overall appearance of the plant group has not yet been fully elucidated.

北海道中軸部に分布する上部白亜系函淵層群(8000万～6500万年前)に含まれる化石植物の総称。植物化石は，ケイ化木，ケイ化葉，葉，花粉･胞子などからなり，そのうちソテツ類のケイ化葉化石は1909年M.C.ストープス，ケイ化木の類は10年ストープス，藤井健二郎，葉化石は25年遠藤誠道，また花粉･胞子化石は64年高橋清によって研究がなされた。葉や茎の化石は，シダ類4種，ソテツ類7種，球果類2種，被子植物4種などがあるが，植物群全体の姿はまだ十分に明らかにされていない。
