[Raw] Shinpei King 25 (603) [Died] King Muyeol 8 (661) The 29th king of Silla, Korea (reigned 654-661). His given name was Kim Chun-chu. His posthumous name was Taejong. His father was Kim Yong-chun (Ryūju), son of the 25th king, King Jinji. His mother was Lady Cheonmyō, daughter of the 26th king, King Jinpyeong. His wife was Kim Yu-shin's younger sister, Queen Munhee (Munhee). Along with Kim Yu-shin, he made the greatest contribution to Silla's unification of Korea, and was particularly successful in foreign and domestic affairs. In the 11th year of Queen Seondeok's reign (642), he sent an envoy to Goguryeo to counter Baekje's invasion of the Gaya region, but failed. In the 16th year of the same year, he sent an envoy to Japan, where he appeased anti-Silla forces, and the following year he entered the Tang Dynasty, opening the door to an alliance with the Tang Dynasty. He also assisted Kim Yu-shin in putting down the civil war in Bidam, and in the 3rd year of the reign of Queen Jindeok (649), he introduced the various systems of the Tang Dynasty and established a centralized government. After ascending to the throne (654) at the recommendation of Kim Yu-shin and others, he created over 60 articles of the Libangbukaku and worked to improve the legal code system. In the 7th year of the reign of King Muyeol (660), he allied with the Tang Dynasty and destroyed Baekje, but died the following year while preparing to destroy Goguryeo.
