Brüggen - Frans Brüggen

Japanese: ブリュッヘン - ぶりゅっへん(英語表記)Frans Brüggen
Brüggen - Frans Brüggen

Dutch recorder and flute player, and conductor. Born in Amsterdam. Studied under Kees Otten (1924-2008) at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and further studied musicology at the University of Amsterdam. In addition to his solo activities, he taught early music at the conservatories in The Hague and Amsterdam from 1956 to 1969. In 1967, he formed the Brüggen Consort, and was involved in a wide range of activities, including the formation of the avant-garde ensemble "Sour Cream" with two of his students. He first visited Japan in 1972. A master who has expanded the possibilities of the recorder, a simple instrument, he has also edited and published early music scores. He was also active as an ensemble conductor, but in 1981 he formed the "18th Century Orchestra," an early music orchestra using original instruments, and began his full-fledged conducting career. His talent as a conductor has attracted widespread attention, and he has frequently performed as a guest conductor with orchestras that use modern instruments, such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
