An art group that promoted the first movement of German Expressionism. It is translated as "Bridge School". It was founded in 1905 by Kirchner, Schmidt-Rottluff, and E. Heckel, who were students at the Dresden Higher Technical School, to be a "bridge" to new art, and Pechstein and Nolde later joined. In opposition to the Secessionist Impressionism that was becoming dominant in Germany at the time, they expressed the social and psychological anxieties and suffering of modern people with simple, powerful lines and forms and intense colors learned from techniques of African-American sculpture and woodblock printing, and thus opened the curtain on modern German art. It was dissolved in 1913. → Related articles Dresden | Blaue Reiter Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
