Pripyat River (English spelling) Reka Pripyat'

Japanese: プリピャチ[川]（英語表記）Reka Pripyat’

A large tributary that straddles Belarus and Ukraine and flows into the right bank of the Dnieper. It is 761 km long. Its drainage area is 114,300 km2, making it unusually large for a river of this length, and it has many tributaries. It first flows north from the hills at an altitude of about 152 m in the northwestern tip of Ukraine (near the border with Belarus and Poland), and then flows eastward, creating a vast marshland of its own, before re-entering Ukraine and emptying into the right bank of the Kiev Reservoir (Dnieper River) built upstream of Kiev.

ベラルーシ，ウクライナにまたがり，ドニエプル川の右岸に注ぐ大きな支流。長さ761km。流域面積は11万4300km2で，この程度の長さの川としては異常に広く，支流の数も多い。はじめウクライナの北西端(ベラルーシ，ポーランドとの国境付近)の標高約152mの丘陵から北流，ベラルーシ南部のポレシエ地方で数十の支流を合わせ，みずから広大な湿地をつくって東に流れ，再びウクライナに出てキエフの上流につくられたキエフ貯水池(ドニエプル川)の右岸へ注ぐ。
