Japanese: フラボノール
Flavonols

3-hydroxyflavone. C 15 H 10 O 3 (238.24). In the narrow sense, it refers to 3-hydroxyflavone. This compound does not exist in nature. Colorless needle-like crystals. Melting point 178-179 °C. λ max 239, 243 (shoulder), 306, 344 nm. In the broad sense, it is a general term for derivatives that have hydroxy groups on both benzene nuclei. Flavonols (a group of flavonoids) are widely distributed in the plant kingdom as yellow pigments, and representative examples include kaempferol, quercetin, myricetin, apigenin, and luteolin. In many cases, glycosides are formed at the 3-position, and many also have sulfate esters. They are biosynthesized by flavonol sulfotransferases with different position specificities. [CAS 577-85-5]
