Nagamichi Asano - Nagamichi Asano
1812-1872 A daimyo from the end of the Edo period.
Born on July 29, 1816. Grandson of Asano Shigeakira. He succeeded the Asano family as lord of Nitta Domain, a branch of the Aki Hiroshima Domain, for five generations, but in 1858 he inherited the main domain and became the 11th Asano family lord of Hiroshima. He promoted reforms in the domain's government by appointing Tsuji Igaku and others. He served as a peace arbiter in both Bakufu-Choshu Wars, and also worked hard for the restoration of imperial rule. He died on July 26, 1872, at the age of 61. His former name was Shigenaga. His given name is also pronounced "Nagakuni."

文化9年7月29日生まれ。浅野重晟(しげあきら)の孫。安芸(あき)広島藩支藩の新田藩主浅野家5代をついだが,安政5年本藩を相続,広島藩主浅野家11代となる。辻維岳(いがく)らを登用して藩政改革を推進。両度の幕長戦争で和議調停につとめ,大政奉還にも尽力した。明治5年7月26日死去。61歳。前名は茂長。名は「ながくに」ともよむ。
