It is a seaweed of the family Funoriaceae in the order Crassostrea. There are species such as G. complanata , G. tenax , and G. furcata . All of them are used as adhesives. G. complanata is about 3 cm tall, has dense pinnate branches, and grows in clumps from the upper intertidal zone to the splash zone. G. furcata grows in colonies on rocks in the middle of the intertidal zone, with forked branches that spread widely and reach lengths of 10-20 cm and diameters of 1-4 mm. G. furcata grows in colonies on rocks in the upper intertidal zone, reaching lengths of 7 cm and diameters of 2-5 mm.
