A general term for annelids belonging to the family Megascolecidae of the class Oligochaeta. They are terrestrial and live in fields, compost, and under fallen leaves in forests. Most are medium to large in body size and are said to have originated in the area from New Guinea to Australia. The annulus begins at the 15th segment or an anterior segment, with one pair of male pores at the 17th to 19th segments and one female pore on the ventral midline of the 14th segment. There are 1 to 5 pairs of fertilization sacs anterior to the 10th segment and open into the intersegmental groove on the side of the body.

貧毛綱フトミミズ科Megascolecidaeに属する環形動物の総称。陸産で，畑や堆肥の中や林の落葉の下などにすむ。体の大きさは中型から大型のものが多く，ニューギニアからオーストラリアにかけての地域が起源といわれている。環帯は第15体節，またはそれより前方の体節から始まり，雄性孔は第17～19体節に1対，雌性孔は第14体節の腹側正中線に1個存在する。受精囊は第10体節よりも前方に1～5対あり，体側面で体節間溝に開いている。
