Akishino Gesseishu - Akishino Gesseishu

Japanese: 秋篠月清集 - あきしのげっせいしゅう
Akishino Gesseishu - Akishino Gesseishu

This is a self-selected collection of poems by Fujiwara no Yoshitsune. The official title is "Shikibu Shisho Akishino Gesseishu" and the abbreviated title is "Gesseishu". It was compiled around November 1204 (Genkyu 1). The first half of the collection contains nine types of 100 poems, such as the 100 poems for the Kagetsu and 100 poems for the Futayo, and two types of 50 poems, 50 poems without a theme and 50 poems with a theme for the In, while the second half contains poems on the four seasons, celebrations, love, travel, miscellaneous, impermanence, gods, and Buddhism. Even among the Shin Kokin style of poetry, it is characterized by its stately poems and its incorporation of the world of Chinese poetry. The style is full of deep emotion, and many of the poems are described as "takataka". The extant versions are divided into the Noriie version (transcribed by Noriie, Yoshitsune's second son, in 1221) which contains 1,615 poems, and the Teika version (transcribed by Teika and Minbukyo no Tsubone in 1228 from Yoshitsune's draft), which contains 1,611 poems. It contains most of Yoshitsune's poems.
