This phenomenon occurs when two typhoons approach each other within a distance of 1000 km, causing them to interact and rotate counterclockwise. In the actual movement of typhoons, there are often strong directional winds, so simple rotational motion is not observed, but when the directional winds are weak, mutual motion that is clearly due to this interaction can be seen. The name comes from Fujiwara Sahei, the fifth director of the Central Meteorological Observatory, who first proposed the existence of this rotational motion.
