A bay on the Mediterranean coast in southern France, located west-northwest of Marseille and east of the mouth of the Rhône River. Due to its deep waterway nearby, lack of tides, and the vast unused flat land of the Crau, it was chosen as the base for new regional development in 1965, and construction of a port and coastal industrial zone was promoted. Three docks capable of docking 300,000-ton ore ships and tankers were dug, and they are divided into three wharves for industrial and energy use, one for container cargo, automobiles, and lumber, and one for export of steel and petroleum products.
