Abbreviation: Pic. A small southern constellation. Founded by NL Lacaille in 1752, the name means an easel on which a canvas is placed. Even its alpha star is faint, at magnitude 3.3. The star Kaptein has the second largest proper motion after Barnard's Star. Its approximate position is 5h30m in right ascension and -52° in declination. It reaches its culmination at 8pm in early February. [Ishida Goro]
