A breach of the obligation of good faith between a lord and a vassal in a feudal relationship (feudal system). In Latin, felonia. In a feudal relationship, a lord and a vassal have a mutual obligation to be good faith with each other, that is, a basic obligation to actively seek the interests of the other party and avoid their disadvantages. In addition, the lord has an obligation to protect his vassal by granting them fiefs (lanes), and the vassal has obligations to his lord such as military service and attendance at court. Any act that violates these obligations is called a felony, regardless of whether it is the act of the lord or the vassal. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
