C 9 H 14 ClNO 2 . Also called neosynephrine. It is synthesized by reacting metahydroxy-ω-chloroacetophenone with methylamine in dilute alcohol. It has a sympathetic nervous system stimulant effect, and is used for partial vasoconstriction, pupil dilation, and nasal congestion relief.
