An island located about 23 km north of the Motobu Peninsula on the main island of Okinawa, Okinawa Prefecture. It is one of the Iheya Izena Islands. It is also the main island of Izena Village. Its area is 14.14 square kilometers. The highest point is Mount Chijin, which is 120 meters high. The island is made up of low hilly Palaeozoic mountains and coastal lowlands, and the settlement is located here. There are many famous places and historical sites, and the island is blessed with natural scenery such as Izena Beach, making it a tourist destination. Sugarcane cultivation and mozuku seaweed farming are thriving. There is a regular ferry service from Unten Port (Nakijin Village) on the main island of Okinawa.
