Japanese: インドネシア語派 - インドネシアごは（英語表記）Indonesian languages

It is one of the three Austronesian language groups, along with the Melanesian and Polynesian groups. It is divided into three groups: Western, Northern, and Eastern. The Western group includes Malagasy of Madagascar, Batak of Sumatra, Malay of the Malay Peninsula and Indonesia, Sundanese and Madurese of Java, and Javanese, which has a rich literature since ancient times. Ancient Javanese is known as Kawi. The Northern group includes Minahasa of Sulawesi (Celebes), Makassarian, Dayak of Borneo, Tagalog of the Philippines, Visayan, indigenous languages of Taiwan, and Chamoro of the Mariana Islands. The Eastern group includes Wolio of Sulawesi, but there are many unknowns about it. While Malay, which belongs to the Western group, has an isolating character, Chamoro, which belongs to the Northern group, is notable for its complex grammatical system based on affixes.
