Early Modern Law

Japanese: 近世法 - きんせいほう

This refers to the laws of the period under the rule of Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, or the Edo Shogunate.
[Azuchi-Momoyama period]
The laws under the Azuchi-Toyotomi government were different from the provincial laws, and aimed for the first nationwide political organization and social control. There was no organized code of laws, and most were individual laws. Laws by Nobunaga included the Echizen Province Laws (1573), the Azuchi Castle Rakushi-rei (Order for the Rakugi Fair), and laws by Toyotomi Hideyoshi included the Peasant Control Order (1586), the Order for the Expulsion of the Missionaries, the Sword Hunting Order (Sword Hunt), the People Sweep Order, the Social Status Control Order, the Land Survey Articles, the Osaka Castle Wall Inscriptions, the same supplements, and the Laws Concerning the Five and Ten Groups (1597).

織田信長･豊臣秀吉政権ないし江戸幕府治下の時代の法をいう。
【織豊時代】
　織豊政権下の法は分国法と異なり，初めて全国的な政治組織，社会統制を目ざした。法典というべきまとまったものはなく単行法が主である。信長による法としては越前国掟(1573)，安土城下楽市令，豊臣秀吉によるものとして百姓統制令(1586)，伴天連追放令，刀狩令(刀狩)，人掃令，身分統制令，検地条目，大坂城壁書，同追加，〈五人組十人組に関する法令〉(1597)等がある。
