This gate faces south towards Chodoin, the main hall of Heian Palace. It is located behind Suzakumon, the main gate of Heian Palace, and is a two-story building with five bays and three doors, with two towers on the east and west called Seiho and Shoran. The gate at Heian Shrine today is a scale replica of the previous one. It was named Otenmon because it was guarded by the Otomo clan in ancient times, and is also called Otomomon.
