Danish pathologist. Studied under Koch in Berlin. Later became a professor at the University of Copenhagen. He discovered that feeding mice a certain type of nematode for a long period of time caused stomach cancer, and was the first to successfully artificially induce cancer. However, some people later expressed dissent over this work. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1926. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
