This refers to foreign exchange transactions between foreign exchange banks, and is also called interbank transactions. The main part of interbank transactions is foreign exchange fund adjustment and position adjustment transactions that occur through customer transactions, which are passive transactions for banks, and are usually carried out through foreign exchange brokers. The interbank rates used in these so-called cover transactions are rates that indicate the supply and demand of foreign currency in the foreign exchange market, and banks set customer rates based on these rates, taking into account market trends and trends in balancing operations. Transactions include spot and futures transactions and swap transactions for the US dollar, as well as cross transactions (foreign currency for foreign currency) for major currencies such as the British pound and the mark, but transactions in the US dollar, the base currency, are overwhelming, with the transaction unit being over 100,000 dollars.

外国為替銀行相互間の為替取引のことで，銀行間取引ともいう。銀行間取引の中心は，銀行にとって受動的な取引である対顧客取引によって発生する為替の資金調整および持高調整取引であり，通常為替ブローカーを介して行われる。このいわゆるカバー取引に用いられる銀行間相場は，外国為替市場における外貨需給を示す相場であって，銀行はこの相場を基礎に市場動静や平衡操作動向などを勘案して対顧客相場を建てる。取引は米ドルの直物・先物取引，スワップ取引のほか，英ポンド，マルクなど主要通貨のクロス取引 (外貨対外貨) も行われるが，基軸通貨である米ドルの取引が圧倒的で，取引単位は 10万ドル以上となっている。
