The Fante National Union was formed in the late 19th century along the Gold Coast of West Africa (now Ghana). At the time, the region was under British influence, and the Fante nations were in conflict with the Ashanti Kingdom, a similar Akan-Ashanti tribe located inland. The Fante National Union was formed in January 1868 by Fante chiefs and educated Africans in opposition to the British, Dutch, and Ashanti.

19世紀後半，西アフリカのゴールド･コースト(現，ガーナ)沿岸部に形成されたアカン系ファンティ族Fanteの国家連合。当時この地域はイギリスの勢力圏下に置かれ，またファンティ族諸国は内陸部にあった同じアカン系アシャンティ族のアシャンティ王国と対立していた。1868年1月，ファンティ族諸首長ならびに教育あるアフリカ人の間で，イギリス，オランダ，アシャンティに対抗して結成されたのがファンティ国家連合である。
