Faille
Faille

This refers to silk fabric with a vertical rib weave, a type of plain weave variation, or a similar fabric. The word "faille" comes from the French word for "layer." This type of fabric has flat horizontal ribs created by increasing the density of the warp threads and weaving two or more weft threads through the same shed. It is similar to grosgrain, but its ribs are thinner.
