A marine fish of the Scombridae family in the order Perciformes, a type of tuna (illustration). Its name comes from its extremely long pectoral fins. It is also called bincho. It is also called dragonfly due to the shape of its spread pectoral fins. It inhabits warm regions around the world, and in the Pacific Ocean it is found from the equator to the polar front. It is the smallest of the tuna species, growing to a maximum of 1.2m and weighing only 30kg, and preferring slightly colder waters after bluefin tuna. It is characterized by a spindle-shaped, thickened body and significantly elongated ribbon-like pectoral fins. It matures at 80-100cm, and each fish produces around 2 million eggs.
