Hiromine Shrine

Japanese: 広峰神社 - ひろみねじんじゃ

Located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Former prefectural shrine. The main deity is Susanoo-no-Mikoto. It was also called Hiromine Gozu Tenno Shrine and Buto Tenjin. It is said that Kibi no Makibi, in the Nara period, saw a foreign deity (Gozu Tenno) here after returning to Japan and founded the shrine. It is said that Gozu Tenno was later enshrined in Gion, Kyoto, and this shrine is also called the original shrine of Gion Shrine (Yasaka Shrine). The Ekishin Festival is held in January.

兵庫県姫路(ひめじ)市に鎮座。旧県社。主祭神は素戔嗚尊(すさのおのみこと)。広峰牛頭天王(ごずてんのう)社・武塔(ぶとう)天神などといわれた。奈良時代吉備真備(きびのまきび)が帰朝後当地に異神（牛頭天王）を見て創基したという。のち牛頭天王は京都祇園(ぎおん)に勧請されたといい，当社を祇園社（八坂(やさか)神社）の元宮ともいう。１月に疫神祭が行われている。
