Atomization - Biryuka (English spelling) atomization

Japanese: 微粒化 - びりゅうか（英語表記）atomization

The process of dispersing liquid into gas as droplets. A wide range of particle sizes are used, from large raindrops (a few mm) to mist or fumes (a few μm), just like naturally occurring droplets.
[Operation method]
There are five methods for atomization: (1) Using the relative speed between the gas and liquid to create a liquid film or liquid string and break it into small pieces, (2) Inducing self-excited vibration in a liquid column or liquid film, which then breaks it into relatively large droplets due to the surface waves that grow, and (3) Breaking it up by high-speed collisions between liquids or high-speed collisions of liquids with a solid wall.

液体を気体中に液滴として分散させる操作。天然に存在する液滴と同じく大粒の雨(数mmくらい)から霧やフューム(数μmくらい)まで広範囲の粒径が用いられる。
［操作方法］
　微粒化の方法は次の五つがある。(1)気体と液体との相対速度を利用して液膜や液のひもをつくり，細かく分裂させる。(2)液柱や液膜に自励振動を起こさせ成長した表面波により比較的大きな液滴に分裂させる。(3)高速の液どうしの衝突，高速の液の固体壁への衝突で分裂させる。
