A disease of silkworms. It is caused by the parasitism of the microsporidian Nosema bombycis , and can be transmitted orally or from mother to mother. To prevent this, mother moths must be inspected by law. Symptoms include loss of appetite, uneven growth and waking, and eventually the silkworm stops eating mulberry leaves, becomes emaciated, and dies. Silkworms that hatch from poisonous eggs generally develop the disease by the third instar. Many silkworms develop black or dark brown spots on their bodies, so the disease is also known as black spot disease. It is generally said that the incidence rate is higher in those raised in dry conditions than in humid conditions, and in those raised in low temperatures than in high temperatures. The particulate pathogen was discovered by L. Pasteur of France, who established the basis for prevention methods.

蚕の病気の一種。ノセマ・ボンビシス Nosema bombycisという小胞子虫の寄生によるもので，経口伝染と母体伝染とがあり，予防のため法規によって母蛾検査を行うことになっている。症状は食欲が減り発育，眠起がふぞろいとなり，やがて食桑をやめ瘠小となって死ぬ。有毒卵から孵化した蚕は一般に3齢までに発病する。蚕の胴に黒色か黒褐色の斑点が出るものが多いので，一名黒痣病とも呼ぶ。一般に多湿育よりも乾燥育に，また高温飼育よりも低温飼育に発病率が高いといわれる。微粒子病原体はフランスの L.パスツールが発見し，予防法の基礎をつくった。
