Byakkotsuu (English: Bo-hu-tong)

Japanese: 白虎通 - びゃっこつう（英語表記）Bo-hu-tong

A book compiled by Ban Gu of the Later Han Dynasty in China. Its correct name is "White Tiger Tonggi" (The Meaning of the White Tiger). It is also called "White Tiger Tongde Lun" (The Treatise on Virtue of the White Tiger). In the fourth year of Jianchu (79), Emperor Zhang of the Later Han Dynasty gathered various scholars at the White Tiger Temple to debate the differences in interpretation of Confucian classics, and compiled the White Tiger Tongde Lun (The Treatise on Virtue of the White Tiger). Ban Gu compiled "White Tiger Tong" based on this. It contains a comprehensive commentary on the main points in the classics.
