Japanese: ヒメヒオウギ（英語表記）Lapeyrousia cruenta Bak.

A semi-cold-hardy bulbous plant planted in autumn, similar to freesia of the Iridaceae family. It is also called Anomateca from its old genus name. It is often used as a potted plant. It grows to a height of about 20 cm, and produces 4-5 flowers in clusters. The flowers are red, but there are also white varieties. There are about 50 species of Lapeyrousia distributed from the tropics to southern Africa. All of them are semi-cold-hardy bulbous plants similar to freesia, and Lapeyrousia grandiflora Bak. produces large red flowers up to 6 cm in diameter, and is sometimes cultivated.

アヤメ科のフリージアなどに似た半耐寒性の秋植球根性植物。旧属名からアノマテカともいう。多くは鉢物として利用される。草丈約20cmくらい，4～5輪の花を総状につける。花色は赤色だが，白色の品種もある。ヒメヒオウギ属Lapeyrousiaは，アフリカの熱帯から南部地方にかけて約50種が分布している。いずれもフリージアに似た半耐寒性の球根植物で，なかでもラペイロウシア･グランディフロラL.grandiflora Bak.は径6cmにもなる赤色の大きな花をつけ，ときに栽培される。
