Flying membrane

Japanese:
Flying membrane

A membrane-like structure used for gliding or flight, seen in terrestrial vertebrates other than birds, developed as a skin fold. Flying membranes for gliding are seen in mammals such as flying squirrels, flying squirrels, and flying lemurs. They have a membrane between their limbs and sides of the body, which they use to glide, and they can also change direction with their tails. The flying membranes of bats are stretched between their long phalanges, limbs, and sides of the body, allowing them to fly by flapping like a bird's wings. The membrane between the hind legs and tail acts as a rudder. Flying dragons also have structures called flying membranes on their sides, but these are skin folds that connect the ribs that protrude from the sides of the body, and are not connected to the limbs.
