Minamichita-cho, Chita-gun, Aichi Prefecture, is the smallest of the three islands in Mikawa Bay. Its area is 0.77 square kilometers. The geology is Neogene rocks consisting of sandstone and shale, and it has a gently sloping hilly shape. The temperature is warm, and olives are also cultivated. The settlements are divided into Higashi-zato and Nishi-zato. The main industries are fishing and tourism, and there are many inns and guesthouses, and fishing and live fish dishes are popular, as well as a swimming beach. High-speed ferries run between the island and Morozaki, Kowa, and Irago ports. The island once suffered from water shortages due to poor water quality, but water supply has stabilized since it began receiving water from the Aichi Waterworks through an undersea water pipe.
