Greek poet of the 3rd century BCE. Born in Chalcis, Euboea, he served as curator of comedies at the Library of Alexandria at the invitation of King Ptolemy II Philadelphus. All that remains of his work is the 1,474-line Iambos poem Alexandra, a monologue by a slave reporting to King Priam the prophecy of the Trojan princess Cassandra (Alexandra).
