A consumer advisor is someone who majored in home economics, graduated from a four-year university or has an equivalent qualification, and works within a company utilizing their specialized knowledge. Their duties cover a wide range of areas, including advising and educating consumers, communicating with them, analyzing consumer behavior, and reflecting consumer opinions in company activities, and they act as a conduit between companies and consumers. Organizationally, they are directly connected to the president. Although the system already has a long history in the United States, few companies in Japan have adopted it.
