Plate-making methods are also becoming more automated, with simplified photomechanical printing and electrophotographic methods. The use of such equipment to produce printed materials in government offices, schools, and companies is called in-house printing (called in-plant printing in the West), and its increase is seen as a problem as it takes away work from professional printers. Special printing, as opposed to general printing, which transfers ink onto paper, refers to printing on materials other than paper, such as fabric, metal, metal foil, cellophane, and various plastics. ...
