[Soil map]
A soil map is a reduced representation of the soil composition on the earth's surface according to a set of conventions (diagrams) so that the types of soil covering the earth's surface and their distribution, such as their relative positions and width, can be understood at a glance. Soil maps vary in scale and units of illustration depending on the purpose of use and the precision of the soil survey, and therefore the amount and quality of information obtained also differs.
