The northwestern part of the island is dry and has little rain, and is home to towns such as Nadi, which has an international airport that is popular with tourists, and Lautoka, Fiji's second largest town and sugar shipping port. The southeastern part of the island, which is home to the capital Suva and Nausori, which has an airport connecting the country and neighboring island countries, receives more rain.
