Leader of the Abbasid revolution in Khorasan. Sent as a secret propagandist (da'i) by Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad (701/702-749) of the Abbasid dynasty, he led the movement to overthrow the Umayyad dynasty, and in 747 he led an armed uprising at Merv, marching his revolutionary army westward and crushing the Umayyad forces. He became governor of Khorasan as a result, and in 751, during his term in office, he defeated a large Tang army at Talas in Central Asia, further increasing his fame. However, he was assassinated by the second caliph, Mansur, who feared his growing power.

ホラーサーンにおけるアッバース朝革命の指導者。アッバース家のイブラーヒームIbrāhīm b.Muḥammad(701∥702‐749)によって秘密の宣伝者(ダーイー)として派遣され，ウマイヤ朝打倒運動を指導，747年メルブで武装蜂起し，革命軍を西進させてウマイヤ朝軍を粉砕した。その功によりホラーサーン総督となったが，その在任中の751年，中央アジアのタラスで唐の大軍を破り，いっそう名声をあげた。しかし，彼の勢力伸張を恐れた第2代カリフのマンスールによって暗殺された。
