What goes around comes around

Japanese: 因果応報 - いんがおうほう
What goes around comes around
In Buddhism, receiving various consequences as punishment due to one's past actions or a previous life.

[Example] I don't believe in karma. I don't believe in unlucky days or physiognomy. [Dan Kazuo * Wave Edge | 1957]

[Example] The part about Emperor Gotoba being exiled to Oki was added later to emphasize the horror of vengeful spirits and the principle of karma. [Hanada Kiyoaki *The Heike Novel | 1965-67]

[Example] Through stories, he preached about the merits of Buddha, the law of karma, the way of life as a Buddhist, etc. This may sound like a collection of formulaic sermons that are heavy with incense, but each story is very lively and interesting! [Tanabe Seiko * Bunsha Nikki | 1974]

[Explanation] If you treat others badly, you will incur their resentment. As a result of incurring their resentment, you will be treated badly by them. Cause and effect in the world go round and round like little wheels. This is the law of karma.
In Buddhism, "karma" means "cause and effect." "Retribution" means "retribution." In other words, "karma" means that "good results are rewarded for good causes, and bad results are rewarded for bad causes."
In the classics, there are many stories about people suffering in this life because of bad deeds they did in their previous life. This is also an example of "karma". Even physical disabilities were often blamed on actions in the previous life, but this does not fit with modern sensibilities.
In modern times, it is often used when one is later repaid for one's actions. For example, a boss who used to yell at his subordinates may not be contacted by anyone after retirement. This is a classic example of karma.
