An annelid of the Polychaeta family, Vaccinidae. Also known as a false worm. In Hiroshima Prefecture, it is called Yasurimushi. It lives by burrowing deep into the coastal sand and mud of the Seto Inland Sea and the Amakusa region. Its body is 60-90 cm long, about 1 cm wide, and has 600-800 segments. Its body is orange and slightly flattened, and the anterior dorsal surface fluoresces green. Its head is cone-shaped, with three short antennae and four small eyespots at the rear. 多毛綱ビクイソメ科の環形動物。別名モドキ。広島県ではヤスリムシ。瀬戸内海や天草地方の沿岸の砂泥中に深く潜って生活する。体は長さ60~90cm,幅約1cmで,環節が600~800もある。体は橙色でやや扁平,前方の背面は緑色の蛍光を発する。頭部は円錐形で,その後部に3本の短い感触手と4個の小さい眼点がある。各体節の両側にはいぼ脚があり,背触鬚(はいしよくしゆ)または背触糸と呼ばれる細長い葉状の突起がある。
