A former town in Yoshiki District, facing the Suo Nada Sea in southern Yamaguchi Prefecture. The central town of Achisu is on the Ube Line and has many fishermen. Small-scale bottom trawl fishing and seaweed farming are thriving. Rice, livestock, and vegetable cultivation such as radishes are practiced, and pickled radish is a specialty. Many people commute to Ube City. In October 2005, it was incorporated into Yamaguchi City along with Tokuji Town in Sawa District, Akiho Town in Yoshiki District, and Ogori Town. 25.49 km2 . 8,868 people (2003).
