Born: December 14, 1791 in Copenhagen [Died] August 25, 1860. Bonderup Danish playwright, critic and poet. He wrote books as an admirer of Hegel, but he left teaching and devoted himself to the theater world, where he reigned with his wife, a famous actress, introducing French vaudeville to the theater world and bringing a breath of fresh air to it. He also played a leading role in the intellectual world as editor of a literary newspaper, influencing such figures as Andersen, Kierkegaard and Ibsen. His representative works are Elverhøj (1828) and En Sjæl efter Døden (The Soul After Death).
